Our Town - A History Of The City of Hines

Logging Action - Hines Mill circa 1930's

Our town had its beginning in 1929, when construction of the large Edward Hines Lumber Company mill began.  It was apparent that many homes were going to be needed to house the work force that was about to settle in the Burns area.

Stafford, Derbes and Roy, realtors from Mississippi who had developed homes in Longview, Washington, Bend and Klamath Falls, Oregon, were hired to developed the "greater Burns Sub-division" - later to be known as Hines.
